Jakarta, IO – Data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) shows that consumption of foods and beverages high in sugar, salt, and fat continues to contribute to the high prevalence of hypertension and diabetes in Indonesia. A total of 43.3% of Indonesians are unaware of the health risks of consuming high-risk foods and beverages, which in the long term can increase blood pressure and the risk of cardiovascular disease.
In addition to expanding access to technical services, education about risk factors is also a key focus in hypertension prevention efforts. Noting the importance of hypertension prevention and control, dr. Bagus Andi Pramono, Sp.JP, FIHA, Chair of the Hypertension Working Group of PERKI (Indonesian Cardiovascular Specialists Association), highlighted the characteristics of hypertension and the importance of proper management.
“Hypertension is a chronic condition characterized by dynamic and fluctuating blood pressure, influenced by physical activity, stress, measurement time, environment, and patient compliance with therapy. Therefore, accurate, standardized, and repeated blood pressure measurements are key to the diagnosis, risk stratification, and evaluation of the success of hypertension therapy,” he explained on Wednesday (4/2/2026).
He added that the use of clinically validated blood pressure measuring devices, along with education on correct measurement techniques, plays a crucial role in preventing hypertension misclassification. “The presence of the Experience Center is expected to increase public and healthcare professional literacy regarding the importance of standardized blood pressure measurement,” continued dr. Bagus.
The PERKI Hypertension Working Group also encourages the use of digital technology to support long-term blood pressure recording and monitoring, in line with current hypertension management recommendations that emphasize monitoring outside healthcare facilities.
In line with these efforts, Omron also promotes public health education through various activities involving healthcare professionals as trusted sources, digital campaigns, and customer events in cities where the you OEC is present. This program is part of Omron’s ongoing social contribution to raising awareness about cardiovascular health.

As part of its support for self-monitoring, Omron offers a variety of sphygmomanometers for home use, including the Omron Complete, which measures blood pressure and records heart rhythm in a single device.
It’s well known that atrial fibrillation, or arrhythmia, often goes unnoticed because symptoms can be very mild or even unnoticeable. However, this condition can increase the risk of stroke by up to five times compared to those with a normal heart rhythm. Therefore, using a device like the Omron Complete makes it easier for people to independently monitor their blood pressure and heart rhythm, thereby maintaining a regular health checkup routine.
To ensure reliable measurement results, all Omron sphygmomanometers are designed and manufactured in accordance with international medical standards. These devices have undergone clinical testing and validation by various leading independent organizations, including the European Society of Hypertension, the British Hypertension Society, and the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, and are recommended by StrideBP.
“Through the operation of Omron Experience Centers in 12 Indonesian cities, Omron affirms its commitment to providing closer, faster, and more reliable after-sales services to customers throughout Indonesia,” said Tomoaki Watanabe, Director of Omron Healthcare Indonesia. (est)
