Riveon Mental Health and Recovery receives 6K grant to support programs

Riveon Mental Health and Recovery announced Jan. 22 it received a $456,752 grant to support its efforts in helping fight addiction by providing mental health and addiction recovery services for an all-inclusive care approach that simplifies the path to recovery, said CEO Don Schiffbauer in a news release.

The grants from the OneOhio Recovery Foundation will go toward Dual Diagnosis Intensive Outpatient Program services in the amount of $271,612.67; expanding access to care through weekend and evening hours in the amount of $90,100; and removing transportation barriers in the amount of $95,040, Schiffbauer said.

“At Riveon Mental Health and Recovery, we understand the critical importance of dual diagnosis treatment in addressing both addiction and mental health issues,” he said. “By integrating comprehensive care, we can better support individuals on their journey to recovery. We are deeply grateful to the OneOhio Recovery Foundation for entrusting us with the funding to continue this vital work.

“This support enables us to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve.”

The grant is part of an inaugural round of approximately $51 million in funding made available by the Foundation as part of its mission to combat the opioid epidemic by supporting prevention, treatment and recovery programs and services in local communities, according to the release.

The grant money was funded by 55 percent of settlement funds that Ohio is receiving from the pharmaceutical industry as a consequence of its role in the national opioid epidemic, the release said.

The grants received by Riveon reflect the Foundation’s commitment to supporting organizations on the frontlines of the addiction epidemic by advancing efforts that foster more resilient, healthier communities across Ohio, according to the release.

Across Ohio, organizations like Riveon are working day in and day out to strengthen their communities that have been impacted by the opioid epidemic, said Alisha Nelson, executive director of the OneOhio Recovery Foundation, in the release.

“We’re pleased to partner with Riveon Mental Health and Recovery to support their efforts to save lives, rebuild families affected by addiction and foster strong and resilient places to live,” Nelson said.

The recipients announced as part of the Foundation’s first grant cycle were chosen after a robust review process that included evaluation by the local OneOhio Regional Board, the OneOhio Expert Panel and the Foundation’s Board of Directors, the release said.

Grant recipients have demonstrated a strong commitment to addressing the opioid crisis, according to the release.

The funded initiatives are evidenced-based and align with Ohio’s approved abatement strategies, including prevention, recovery supports, services for impacted families and children and many more, the release said

The Foundation had an overwhelming response to the 2024 Regional Grant application process, with more than a half-billion dollars in funding requests submitted for the $51 million available this cycle, the release said.
