After decades of dominance in professional wrestling, Goldberg is preparing to step into the ring one last time. The WWE Hall of Famer, known for his explosive power and unmatched intensity, has confirmed that his farewell match will take place in 2025. As he nears the end of his storied career, Goldberg is prioritizing health and recovery to ensure he delivers a memorable final performance.
Farewell Match Confirmed, but Details Remain Unclear
Goldberg is gearing up for his retirement match in 2025, prioritizing health and recovery in the process. While the date and opponent remain unconfirmed, he recently shared that the match is set for this summer.
Back in November 2024, Goldberg appeared on ESPN’s College GameDay and confirmed that his farewell match would take place in WWE. Since then, he has undergone stem cell treatment, a procedure he prepared for by making significant lifestyle changes, including eliminating tobacco use and poor dietary choices.
Speaking on his CarCast podcast, Goldberg revealed that while the treatment was successful, he is currently in a three week recovery period during which he cannot lift weights. “I feel like a trillion bucks. Whether it’s from the stuff that I altered in my life prior or the stem cell treatment after a day, I feel like a million bucks, comparatively,” Goldberg stated.
Goldberg’s Preparation and Fan Reactions
“You have to be logical, but it’s like you’re a racehorse again, and you’re being held in a stall, and you can’t come out for a period of time. I have a match sometime this summer. I don’t know exactly when it is, but I know it’s coming up, and I know at 58 years old, I have to be in my underwear in front of everybody, and I hold a very high standard for myself”
“I need to get to work yesterday. The long term benefit and the benefit for me in the ring will be much more if I just calm my ass down.”
Goldberg last competed in 2022 at the Elimination Chamber event against Roman Reigns More recently, he had a confrontation with World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER at Bad Blood in October, fueling speculation about his farewell opponent.
However, his return has drawn mixed reactions from fans. While some are excited to see the Hall of Famer step into the ring one last time, others question whether he should compete at this stage of his career. Despite the divided opinions, Goldberg remains committed to delivering a memorable final performance.
